The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a premier recruitment body that came into being with a purpose to encourage the recruitment of the graduates in Public sector banks other than the SBI’s. Responsible for providing standardized systems for assessment and result processing services to the organizations, it helps in streamlining the functions of the banking industry. The board members of IBPS consist of nominees from different government organizations such as Reserve Bank of India, Ministry of Finance Government of India, Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai, Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, National Institute of Bank Management, Indian Banks’ Association and the public sector banks. Mainly a self-governing body IBPS is responsible for conducting competitive exams for recruitment to clerical and officers’ posts in the banking sector. Since 2012, IBPS has been entrusted with the conduction of exams for the recruitment in the Banking sector. It conducts five exams every year thus relieving the candidates for having to write multiple examinations for each bank for their vacancies.IBPS offers its services to banks in the public and private sectors, regional rural banks, and foreign banks. It also serves other financial institutions, including co-operative banks, insurance companies, academic institutions, and both private- and state-owned companies.

The online exams of IBPS PO are conducted in two phases – Preliminary and Main. The individuals who pass the Preliminary and the Main online tests have to appear for the Common Interview round. The shortlisted candidates are eligible to fill the PO/MT positions.

IBPS PO Exam Centres 2019

In order to accommodate over 20 lakh candidates, IBPS has shortlisted more than 36 centres nationwide to conduct the exams smoothly. In addition to the main and prelims exam centres, the exam authority will also release 60 exam centres list for pre-training to a limited number of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes/ Minority Communities/ Ex-Servicemen/ Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

IBPS PO Exam 2019 Syllabus

The syllabus for both the Preliminary and Mains Exams is almost identical. The candidate is expected to be well versed in the subject knowledge of English, Mathematics, Computers and Current Affairs to score high in the examination.

IBPS PO Exam 2019 Eligibility

The appearing candidate must be 20 years of age and must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline at the time of appearing for the exam.

IBPS PO Exam 2019 important Guidelines

Candidates should be aware and follow instructions at the IBPS PO exam centre 2019 for the exam day.

The IBPS PO exam instructions on the exam day are given below:

1. IBPS PO Admit Card 2019 must be present with the candidate at all times at the IBPS PO exam centre.

2. The appearing candidates have to be there at the IBPS PO 2019 exam centre, 40 minutes before the asked time to report.

3. Electronic devices such as calculators are not permitted in the IBPS PO 2019 exam centre and it will lead to cancellation of the examination of the respective candidate at the IBPS PO exam centre.

4. Any concerns with the allotted system should be bought to the notice of the invigilator.

5. All the candidates will not be allowed to leave their respective IBPS PO 2019 exam centre till the ending of the test.

6. The IBPS PO 2019 exam centre rules should be abided by the candidates strictly at all times.

7. The exam will be conducted in 2 sessions namely- Morning Session & Afternoon Session.

8. Candidates are advised to note carefully the exam timings, IBPS PO 2019 exam centre and the session to reduce inconveniences.

9. A valid photo identity proof with its photocopy and the IBPS PO admit card needs to be carried to the IBPS PO exam centre else candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall and sit for the exam.

IBPS PO 2019 Exam Application Fees

A candidate is required to pay Rs. 600/- (General and OBC) as their application fee for IBPS PO 2019 exam. The same amount is narrowed down to Rs. 100/- for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category.

IBPS PO Exam Preparation

The exam is divided into Verbal, Quantitative, General Knowledge and Computer Knowledge which require a diligent strategy to master the subject and ace the exam. Here are some tips to cover the topics.

1.Verbal or English

English or Hindi are scoring subjects in IBPS Exam which a candidate chooses depending on his background. The intent of the examiner is to check your language knowledge and English being a global language the aim of the exam is to test the correct usage. Those participants who have a good command of the English subject they score well than others because English is an important part of any of exam not even in the banking industry.

2.Quantitative Ability

Quantitative questions take the most time finding solutions to the problem and thus speed in calculation comes handy. Data interpretation is the major part of this subject it contains up to 15 questions and one needs to have the ability to interpret the Pie chart, Line chart, line graph and Bar chart, etc. One is advised to save his time for other sections as this topic consumes your most of the time in calculation. The major topics to pay attention to are Data Interpretation, Sequence & Series, Number System, Quadratic Equations, Sequence & Series, Ratio, Proportion Percentage & Averages, Simplification, etc.

3.Computer Awareness

Computer awareness is also an important topic that a candidate is tested on. The main topics to focus – Basic of Computers, Operating System Functions, Basic internet knowledge and protocols, Computer Basic Questions, Network basics (LAN & WAN), Generations of the computer, Input & Output Device, Shortcuts & Basic knowledge MS Word, MS Excel, MS power point, Computer Shortcuts, etc.

4.General Knowledge

General Knowledge is a fundamental part of any banking exam. If you are aware of daily events and activities in India with daily newspaper habit, seriously you can easily cover most of the part of general knowledge. You can easily score well in this section of the exam.GK Paper covers most of the part with current affairs so focus on it seriously especially related to Banking & Finance Sector. In IBPS exams, mostly questions of General Awareness are asked from Current Affairs. Focus mainly on current affairs related to Banking & Finance Sector. You should start reading daily newspapers and magazines for boosting your general knowledge.
