How do I become a DSP in Haryana police?


One can become DSP(Deputy Superintendent in Police through any of the three methods. The first and foremost is through the Haryana Civil Services Examination(HCS). The candidate after clearing the three steps namely The Prelims, The Mains and The Personality Interview with a good rank is offered the position of DSP. The second method is through regular promotion. A direct recruited Sub Inspector can be promoted to the rank of Dy.S.P by promotion). The second method which is available to only a chosen few is through the sports category. The rank is usually given to players who have earned international fame. Recently Geeta Phogat(International wrestler) was promoted to the rank of DSP in Haryana Police.

In order to become a DSP, in Haryana Police, the candidate can enter the police services through either of the two methods i.e either through the HCS exam entrance conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission exam or join Police Services through Union Public Service Commission exam. There are credentials that the candidate need to satisfy are as follows:
i) Minimum age limit for the examination is 21years.
ii) The candidate needs to have a graduate degree from a recognized or an accredited University.
In order to prepare for the Haryana Civil Services examination, the candidate should follow a dedicated study regime with about 7-8 hours daily to the examination. 2.A brief history of Modern India by Rajiv Ahir. It is the best book on India’s modern history without sacrificing the need for elaborate understanding of events.
3.For Geography, Certificate Physical and Human Geography by GC Leong or Majid Hussain’s book.
4.For Economics, Indian Economy by Ramesh Singh. Also, another ideal book in Indian Economy is by Sanjiv Verma. It is recommended that as a beginner it is better to follow the latter.
5.This is Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude by G Subba Rao is an average book but unfortunately, this is the only option available. It is always a great strategy to go through NCERT books.
