  1. All the National eligibility Tests such as UGC NET, CSIR NET & ICAR NET, are initiated by the University Grants Commission.

    1. The CSIR NET has been initiated fro the very beginning by the CSIR itself and as far as UGC NET is concerned, it had been under the jurisdiction of the UGC, but now CBSE has taken over the responsibilities for conducting this exam.

    2. While the CSIR NET is exclusively designed for students belonging to the Science Stream, the UGC NET is for all other courses in the country.

    3. Another point of difference lies in the qualification of the candidate. While the Bachelor Degree candidates holding a qualification in B-Tech, BSc, B-Pharm (4 Years Degree) can appear for CSIR NET JRF  However, it is mandatory for the candidates to have a valid Post-Graduate Degree to appear for the UGC NET Exam.

    4. The age limit for appearing in CSIR NET is 28 Years (General & OBC) or 33 Years (ST/SC/PWD) whereas, for UGC NET, it is 30 Years (General) or 35 Years (ST/SC/PWD/OBC).

    5. There is the negative marking in CSIR NET Exam but for UGC NET, no negative marking is there.

    6. The CSIR NET Qualified students can work under multiple CSIR Research Labs, while the UGC NET qualified students can work in many UGC Approved Universities.
