How can I pass the UGC NET (Computer Science)?
Question
The question seeks to answer the strategy any candidate should adopt for preparation of the UGC NET (Computer Science). It includes the study material, Topics asked in the exam and above all the study methodology for the exam.
The time taken for preparation is an index of the candidate’s current level of preparation. Thus for a candidate who is a fresher M Tech or MCA could take just 5-6 months for the full syllabus and a month extra for the Ist Paper thus making it a total of 7 months preparation which is more than enough. Preparation Strategy All the candidates should go through previous years papers An ideal strategy is to solve the last 10 years previous years papers. The best way is to first solve the question papers in the allotted period of time. This shall provide the candidate with not only time management skills but provide a self-evaluation of the candidate’s own weak areas. Knowing the weak areas is essential for building the strategy of preparation. Candidates can spend more time on the weak areas. Solving the questions amounts to 50% of the preparation is already done. For remaining 50%, study the selected topics only. The candidates should then make a note for all the frequent topics which are being covered every year. All one requires is to go through Previous year exams, subjects and topics.
Types of subjects: The UGC NET In Computer Science has approx 15 technical subjects.Based on the number of questions asked in the exam the subjects are divided into two categories. 1.High Weightage Subjects Algorithms, Data Structures, C++, Databases, Automata(TOC), Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Software Engg, Digital Electronics, Computer Organization and Graph Theory. 2.Low Weightage Subjects Artificial Intelligent, Computer Graphics, C, Soft computing, Compiler, Current trends and Technologies. Less weightage means number of hours should be less because there are only selected topics in these subjects which we have to cover.
