The UGC NET Exam provides the candidate to apply for two positions such as Assistant professor and secondly the Junior Research Fellow. The selection criteria for each position is described below: Assistant professor 1. The candidates are required to submit bio-data in the prescribed format of the respective university along with a copy of their significant publications.
2. As per the UGC new guidelines for PhD, the institutes release the prescribed notification of admission process for the PhD. The notification consists of the details of the admission such as Exam, interview, document verification etc.
3. As per the new UGC regulations no University, Institution and College can conduct the Ph.D. Programs through distance education mode. However Part-time Ph.D. will be allowed if UGC Ph.D. Regulations 2020 are followed by Institutes. It should be noted that the criteria of NET are not mandatory for the candidates who completed their PhD from the top 500 in the world, as per Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the Times Higher Education (THE) or the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
Candidates who fulfill the above criteria will be eligible for assistant professor or to pursue the Ph.D. Degree.
JRF
For selection to the JRF, the candidates need to qualify the UGC NET Exam by scoring the minimum marks for the award of JRF. They are required to obtain minimum marks in Paper I, Paper-II. A merit list will be prepared for the qualified candidates. Amongst them, top 6% candidates will be awarded the Assistant Professor post which was 15% earlier. The allocation of JRF seats are allotted category wise and the Commission provides a minimum of 3200 fellowships in each UGC-NET exam.
